We present to you the new Joy&Joe Yanaimalai woven wrap. Yanaimalia is natural landmark and an Indian hill that is famous for its striking resemblance to a seated elephant. On your visit to the north eastern outskirts of the Madurai city, you can’t but notice the amazing elephant form in the majestic Yanaimalai hill. The hill derives its name from the Tamil word Yanai, which means "elephant", and Malai, which means "hill". The site has had this name for over 2000 years. There are lots of mythological and folklore stories about this hill. Some believe that it is the protective armour guarding the Madurai city from external forces.
The Yanaimalai pattern in our woven wrap is an artistic and abstract arrangement of silhouettes of a parade of elephants woven in a shiny almond white sateen weft beautifully contrasted against a textured chocolate brown weft.
The Yanaimalai woven wrap is a 100% Egyptian cotton wrap. Loomstate and sleek and floppy enough to worn from the first day it reaches you. 295gsm. Woven on an old Yorkshire-designed Hattersley loom like the others in our current limited edition collection and there isn’t very many looms and wraps like this around today. So you don’t want to miss out on your chance to own one of our limited edition wraps.
