BUY NOW // WINTER STORM
The weather outside is frightful and the fire is so delightful….. December is finally here and with it, we will hopefully get freezing winds and several feet of snow. A true winter storm that will trap us indoors and force us to snuggle up with the kids, playing board games, baking cookies and enjoying the sound of the storm outside, while listening to old classic Christmas crooners on the radio. Oh we would definitely love that for Christmas.
In our house, it will be the first Christmas with both kids old enough to really understand the magic of it all, so we have made sure, that we are really prepared. The stockings are filled every night, while they are sleeping and the house is decorated from top to bottom with all kinds of shiny glitter, angels and Christmas ornaments. The old pine tree in our garden is covered with hundreds of small electrical Christmas lights and shining so beautifully in the dark.
To really get in the Christmas spirit, we took both kids to the old Tivoli garden to see all the beautiful Christmas lights and to meet Santa himself. As a grown up you don’t think too much about it, except that the queue is ridicules. Luckily we went, because this turned out to be one of the moments, that we will talk about and remember for the rest of our lives.
After a while it was finally our turn and what happened next was really unexpected. Our extremely shy daughter just ran right over to Santa and jumped right up next to him on the couch. She looked at him with sparkling eyes, when she told him her name and answered all kinds of questions about the bunny, she is desperately wising for this year. Our Son was eagerly impressed and placed right next to our daughter. He told Santa, that he was five years old (even though he is only 2) and that his name was little brother and that he wished for a bike. Their eyes were sparkling and full of admiration for Santa. This was a really special moment and even Santa seemed to be moved and amused despite the amount of children, he had already meet that day. Every adult in that room had turned quiet and was watching the situation with big smiles. Right there in the middle of Tivoli, we all experienced this truly magical moment, when two small children were 100% convinced, that they were having a conversation with the real Santa. We realized, that the true magic of Christmas only exist through the eyes of small children. And only through their eyes, we are able to get a little piece of it.
